Homebrewing NA beer
Yes, you can brew NA beer at home. Most homebrewers do it with special yeasts that can’t ferment most of the sugar, so very little alcohol gets made.
- Escarpment Labs: Non-Alcoholic Fermentation Guide — A free guide covering production methods, food safety and recipes for an NA pale ale, IPA, lager and sour.
- Lallemand LalBrew LoNa — A dry yeast made for low- and no-alcohol beer. Easy to find at homebrew shops.
- NA Craft Brewing — From the creator of Reducaholic. Aimed at breweries, but full of useful NA brewing know-how.
Safety first
NA beer doesn’t have alcohol to help protect it, so it can spoil or grow harmful bacteria in ways regular beer can’t. The guides above explain the key steps: keeping the pH low enough, and pasteurizing packaged beer. Don’t skip them.
